Global star Priyanka Chopra is set to host the 2022 edition of the popular Global Citizen Festival. As it turns out, she is the Global Citizen Ambassador. The star-studded music festival will be coming back on September 24. Last year the festival was organized concurrently across cities on six continents, such as Lagos, Seoul, Paris, New York City, Rio de Janeiro, Los Angeles, London, Mumbai, and Sydney. This year the event will be held in New York City’s Central Park and Accra, Ghana.
Sharing the news Priyanka took to her Instagram account and shared a couple of photos of herself as the host of the Global Citizen Festival. In the photographs, the actress was seen addressing the audience in a classy floral outfit.
The caption read, “It’s almost been 10 years since the first time @glblctzn brought the world together in NYC’s Central Park for #GlobalCitizenFestival. Since then, I’ve had the honor to join activists and influential leaders on the Global Citizen stage in New York in 2016 and 2017, in 2021 in Paris, and now once again for the 2022 Global Citizen Festival: NYC! As a Global Citizen Ambassador, I’ve seen firsthand the impact we can make when we come together and take action to end extreme poverty. Global Citizens all around the world have taken over 30.4 million actions to support this mission, and those actions have impacted 1.15 billion lives worldwide. But this work is more urgent now than ever. Take action NOW for girls, for the planet, and to end poverty, and join me on Sept. 24 in Central Park!”
In the mean time, in the New York part of the festival, celebrated artists such as the Jonas Brothers, Mariah Carey, Metallica, Rosalia, Maneskin, Mickey Guyton and Charlie Puth will perform live. The 2nd half of the event will occur in Accra, where H.E.R., Usher, Sarkodie, SZA, Stormzy, Tems, Gyakie, and Stonebwoy will perform.
