In the recent news, Uttar Pradesh Police Personnel said that section 144 was charged on Rahul Gandhi. After he marched towards Hathrus to meet the victim of gang rape.
There are reports that Rahul Gandhi, along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other senior leaders left Delhi on Thursday. To meet the family of the Hathras rape victim. And while they were on the way. An incident happened in which Rahul and Priyanka were pushed by Uttar Pradesh Police personnel near the Yamuna Expressway. They told that their vehicle was stopped near the Yamuna Expressway. And section 144 was imposed against them. However, Rahul said that even if Section 144 had been imposed, he will walk alone towards Hathras to meet the family of the rape victim. But this led to conflict with the police personal and they were arrested.
Rahul Later pouring out his frustration on the police officers questioned that on what grounds they were arrested. Sharing this with the media he said “Just now police pushed me, lathi-charged me and threw me on the ground. I want to ask, can only (Narendra) Modiji walk in this country? Can’t a normal person walk? Our vehicle was stopped, so we started walking.”
Although, giving clarification on their arrest Uttar Pradesh Police Personnel said that they had been arrested as they were marching in an area where section 144 has been imposed. The section relates to the assembly of not more than five people in one place. According to Ranvijay Singh, Additional DCP, Gautam Budh Nagar, said that Rahul Gandhi has been taken into custody and they won’t be allowed to go further unless a letter from the District Magistrate Hathras gets approved stating if they can visit Hathras.
