Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has said that the system of ‘One Nation, One RationCard’ will start in the country from coming June 1st, 2020. This system will cover migrant laborers and extremely poor people on a large scale. Through this initiative, eligible beneficiaries will be able to take food grains from any fair price shop in the country using a ration card under the National Food Security Act.
Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan told the Lok Sabha that the facility will be available only after biometric or Aadhaar verification on the e-POS machine. Under the One Nation One Ration Card initiative, interstate portability will be available only at a fair price shop with a fully online e-POS machine. Paswan has said that this initiative will start from June 1 across the country.
The Union Minister has given this information in response to supplementary questions asked by Ganesh Singh and some other members during the Question Hour in Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Paswan said that at present the facility of posh machines for ration cards has started in 14 states. He said that this facility will soon be started in 20 other states and union territories.
He also told in the Lok Sabha that the government’s aim is that by next year on 1st June, the initiative of ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ Will be started. He stated that this target will be achieved by the government soon.
