Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayana‘ is retelecasted on Doordarshan and Star Plus amidst lockdown implemented in the country due to coronavirus. Media spoke to Ramanand Sagar’s granddaughter Sakshi Chopra, who is learning music in Los Angeles, USA. Here are some excerpts from their conversation:-
Any pressure to be from Ramanand Sagar family?
No pressure. I think we all grow in life by our differences. It is the same with me.
Did you see any episode of ‘Ramayana’ on Doordarshan?
No. But yes, I have watched a few episodes on YouTube, for which I am grateful.
What are you doing in Los Angeles?
I have been in Los Angeles for a long time and working on my first album. I have many emotions in me for a long time. There are many such ideas, which I want to bring to the public through my music. To make this, I am recording with different music composers. I am very excited about this.
How is the atmosphere in Los Angeles amidst the Corona epidemic?
No official lockdown has been implemented here. But I am taking full care. I am spending all my time at home. I am giving most of my time to music and dance. Enjoying my life. I am as positive as possible.
How do you face the criticisms being received on social media?
I believe that hatred of no one can break me. Nor can anyone’s love. I do not care who thinks what of me? I am just making a document of my life, to be remembered even after I am gone. That’s all I have, to leave me behind. I just express myself and it is momentary for me.
