Ranbir Kapoor, who will next be seen in a period movie, ‘Shamshera’, as of late uncovered that his late dad Rishi Kapoor had advised him to avoid a film that requires him to wear a dhoti.
Speaking about the same, Ranbir said in a recent interaction with a news portal that his dad believed that such movies won’t ever work. Rishi generally told him to do commercial movies. Rishi likewise told Ranbir to not get typecast and always keep experimenting.
Elaborating further, Ranbir said that he has been working for 15 years, and he should present something new with every role. That is the reason he agreed for ‘Shamshera’ when he was offered the movie.
Speaking about the movie, Ranbir had earlier told PTI, “If you start from Ramayan and Mahabharat and come all the way down to Thor – the hero’s intention will always remain the same. A hero is someone who you can look up to, somebody you can relate to or who you aspire to be.”
Helmed by Karan Malhotra, ‘Shamshera’ is set in the 1800s and is about a dacoit tribe battling for their independence from the British. The movie likewise features Sanjay Dutt in the role of a corrupt police, Shuddh Singh and Vaani Kapoor in a key role. It is scheduled to hit the theatres on July 22, 2022.
