Rangoon Movie Review: Outstanding Performance By Kangana Ranaut But Still It Fails To Make Big On Screen

The most awaited film Rangoon is now filming on the screens and we are about to reveal Rangoon movie review. The film directed by ace director Vishal Bhardwaj was looking very promising before release through its trailers. But the reality is far away, the different thing. Kangana Ranaut, the queen of Bollywood tries her best to save the film but unfortunately, the oddly written characters failed to make it worth watching.

rangoon film review

During the initial minutes of the film, you realize the promise of a heart-wrenching period drama was a slapstick comedy, a set-up to promote a self-indulgent film without any aim or climax. It is a real misfire. The plot of the story revolves around the 1930s era where a producer and former action star Rusi Bilimoria, played by Saif Ali Khan, is the friend, patron, and lover of Miss Julia, played by Kangana Ranaut. Miss Julia is an orphan whom Rusi Bilimoria bought for Rs 1000. The character of Miss Julia has inspired from the iconic stunt queen of India Fearless Nadia. She is daring, rowdy and exuberant.

She gets trapped accidently in the jungles of Arunachal Pradesh with haughty Jamadar Nawab Malik, Shahid Kapoor. And here comes a third vertex of the love triangle. Until this point, Rangoon appears to be reaching a point where it appears to be a ‘love story in the backdrop of war.’ The film turns out to be a mixture of Vishal Bhardwaj’s past films like Maqbool, Omkara, Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola and Haider.

Rangoon fil failed to impress audience

Saif Ali Khan is failed to set the parameters and even Shahid, the only star that made the movie run is undoubtedly the Kangana Ranaut. The story of the film failed to make the audience stick to the seats. It seems Vishal Bhardwaj tried to plot the story of two different worlds – One inspired from Shakespearean tragedies and other motivated by the valiant lovers of the Indian cinema. In the end, it neither comes alive on screen.
