The admirable moment in Pakistan’s cricket history since their World Cup win in 1992 came in this year at the Champions Trophy in England when Pakistan’s 180-run over India in the final became one of the biggest upsets for Indian cricket team in the history of world cricket.
Everyone Tagged India Favourites
Several legendary cricketers had tagged India favourites to ease past Pakistan in the final but Pakistan was too hot to handle for the Indians in the final match of the tournament.
Remarks Of Shastri And Gavaskar Fired Up The Pakistan Team
Talat Ali, the former Test opener, who was the manager of the Pakistan team told Cricbuzz:
“India wrote us off in the final. I was listening to the analysis of Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri and they gave us no chance. That fired up the boys. It was called a no-contest and we were written off. We said let the bat and ball do the talking.”
Ali further added: “We had quite a bit of luck. Difficult to figure out why India put us in after winning the toss. With our strong bowling attack, once we put decent total on the board, it was going to be tough for India”
