In a surprising news, the Karni Sena which was notorious for protests during the release of film Padmavati has chosen popular Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, Rivaba Solanki, as the president of its women’s wing in Gujarat. Rivaba in her statement said that she was inspired to work in this area following the attack on her by a police constable in Jamnagar earlier this year in May. She said,
“I want to empower women and girls so that they are able to protect themselves. I will also make the men aware of the torture that women have to face. As a woman, I can feel what it means. It is very unfortunate that such incidents have happened in a state known its safety and security. It is good for the common women as it will boost their morale and give them the inspiration to speak up.”
Megh Singh Shekhawat, Samrakshak (patron) of Rajput Karni Sena in Gujarat, told to a leading website that,
“We have added Matrushakti to our organisation. History has given us many empowered women like Rani Laxmibai and Padmini. Rivaba will be of great help in uniting the society and empowering the women.”
After becoming the head of Karni Sena’s women wing, speculations are hight that Rivaba will soon join the politics.
