Well India is getting over with just cricket and giving all the importance and respect to the other numerous sports which they deserve. It was a time when only a handful of sports personalities like Sania Mirza, Vijender Singh, Baichung Bhutia, Milkha Singh etc who didn’t belong to the cricket field, were names familiar to Indian’s tongue. But as time changed, so did the trend. And Bollywood did a remarkable job in celebrating sports persons from other games increasing their popularity in the common masses. Such an example was Mary Kom.
Now thanks to Aamir Khan who brought two more such well deserved names in the limelight through his much awaited film Dangal which is smashing the box-office like no-nonsense. Dangal is a biopic on the Phogat family which featured the life of former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat who trained his young daughters Geeta and Babita to follow in his footsteps and become world-class grapplers.
Now, if you’ve watched ‘Dangal’ you can (and will) vouch for the moment when Geeta flipped her Australian counterpart (180 degrees in the air) in the Commonwealth games of 2010, dhobi-pachhad style! Now, I don’t know about you but it surely gave me goosebumps!
But if a rehearsed and an adapted clip from a movie could infuse all the patriotism you didn’t even know existed in you, imagine what would the real, do-or-die clash between the both would ?
Well, the good part is that you don’t have to imagine it ! This video uploaded by WildFilmsIndia has the nail-biting fight for Gold, that Geeta fought and nailed. And trust me, you won’t be able to blink an eyelid. No wonder she is the star-wrestler, she is today !
