Bill Paxton, the actor behind the iconic roles in Titanic, Aliens, and Twister has passed away at 61 years old. He suffered a fatal stroke during post-operation complications. He has a role in the upcoming Emma Watson and Tom Hanks thriller, The Circle.
Worried About His Surgery
Paxton was worried about his heart surgery as he said to Liman in an email on January 29:
‘Thanks for the good wishes. It will help me face this ordeal. ‘Don’t worry “Sgt Farell” will be ready to report for duty.’
In an interview on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast, Paxton explained that he had suffered from rheumatic fever (when he was in 7th grade) and acknowledged that the illness had caused heart damage ( Rheumatic fever is associated with step throats. It’s a relatively serious illness that can cause stroke, permanent damage to your heart, and death if it’s left untreated).
A representative for the family released the following statement to the press on Sunday, February 26, 2017: “It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery. A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker.”
The films in which he appeared include The Terminator, Predator 2, True Lies, Weird Science etc. Paxton was born and raised in Texas. He was in the crowd when President John F Kennedy emerged from the Hotel Texas on the morning of his assassination.
