Here are some Army Officer’s wives whose last words or actions while bidding farewell to their husbands will change your mindset towards war. These ladies are as brave as their husbands who sacrifice their lives for their nation.
Air Force Squadron Leader Ninad Mandavgane’s Wife Vijeta
On February 27, he got martyred in Mi-17 V5 chopper crash in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district along with 5 other IAF officers. This brave officer has left behind his father, wife, and their two-year-old daughter. His wife Vijeta at the time of his farewell said something that is winning hearts on the internet.
She said,
“If you really want to do something, join the defence forces. Or encourage someone in your family to do so. If that is not possible, small things could help – keep your surroundings clean, don’t litter, don’t urinate in the open, and do not harass women. Stop spreading communal hatred. Small gestures go a long way.”
Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal’s Wife Nitika Kaul
He got martyred while fighting against terrorists in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir on February 18. He married a Kashmiri girl Nitika Kaul in April 2018.
She had a message for her husband,
“I’m really proud. We all love you. The way you love everyone is entirely different because you sacrifice your life for the people who you may have never contacted, but still you decided to give your life for them. You are such a brave man. I am very honoured to have you as my husband. I’ll love you till my last breath. I owe my life to you.”
Major Prasad Mahadik ‘s Wife

He lost his life in a fire at his shelter in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, in Dec 2017. He was stationed at forwarding post along the Indo-China border at a height above 15,000 ft. On December 30th, 2017 a fire broke out in the barrack where Major Prasad lived. He got trapped badly and got severe burn injuries before he could be rescued. He later succumbed to his severe burn injuries.
His wife decided to join the Indian Army to give a tribute to his husband. She cracked SSB interview and now she will join the OTA Chennai April 2019 SSC Non tech course and will be commissioned in the Indian Army next year.
