Want your phone to alert your car’s fuel and battery status and also able to watch past seven days’ TV? Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s telecom undertaking Reliance Jio Infocomm plans to do so very soon in India.
“Reliance Jio is in a suitable state with a car connected device that will have multiple features like immobilize car at the time of theft, alert registered owner about car movement, locate car, also equip Wi-Fi within car. The owner needs to use Jio sim card in the device to avail this digital ease,” an industry source said.
The company is in advance talks with famous automobile manufactures to launch it very soon.
If Jio facilitate this service, the owner will be able to get the information about the way his driver is driving the car, vehicle can be prohibited to move within a particular geography, switch on/off the AC remotely, get alerts if the car breaks down etc.
“Jio is working on customisation on its sales model for existing cars too,” the source revealed.
The cutting-edge device and the app has been initially developed by Reliance Jio but the hardware device is most likely to be imported from China. Jio Car Connect is supposed to be a dongle along with Jio sim and an app in the phone to convert a simple ordinary car into a smart one. The dongle will be inserted into the on-board diagnostic port of the vehicle. After that’s done, the app in the mobile phone will grant access to major activities of the car and supposed to work should the vehicle is kilometers away.
Moving forward along with the government’s Digital India drive, Jio is helping installing Wi-Fi in one million public places all over across India, to reduce the call drops within the Jio network.
Another rabbit in Mukesh Ambani’s hat would be the new plans for JioTV. According to the industry officials, the subscriber can catch programmes and films up to past seven days, at any time. The release date has not been revealed yet for these revolutionary new products, but Jio officials are very confident that they will change the Indian lifestyle once released for public.
