Reliance Jio Tariff Plan From April 1, Voice Calls & Roaming To Be Free; Mukesh Ambani

Chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani has extended the Reliance Jio Happy New Year Offer. The PRIME members can enjoy the Jio services for one more year. He announced that Jio tariff plans will begin from April 1, 2017. All domestic voice calls to any network will be free across India. There will be no roaming charges, no hidden charges and no blackout days.

Before Reliance Jio was launched, India was 150th in world’s broadband penetration for data. Last month, Jio users consumed more than 100 crore gigabytes of data.

Previously, Mr. Ambani has stated that data will the “next oil” – and said it would trigger the fourth revolution. Reliance Jio acquired 50 million customers in just 83 days since its commercial launch in last September 5. And another milestone wasn’t far away and 100 million in 170 days. Indian Telecom Industry was able to achieve 100 million subscribers in 13 years. India’s number one network – Airtel took 15 years to get 100 million users having completed the 50 million mark in 12 years.

Chairman Ambani announced that by the end of 2017, Jio will be available in nearly all cities, villages across India – will cover up 99 percent of country’s population.

For a nominal one-time fee of Rs 99, Jio Prime Membership programme will be available for only current Jio users and also for those who enroll in the Happy New Year offer before March 31, 2017. Jio Prime Membership programme will allow users to enjoy the 4G Jio services for one more year at Rs 303 a month.

Jio tariff plans announced

Following the announcements by Mukesh Ambani, shares of Bharti Airtel Cellular dropped by 3 percent while Idea Cellular fell by 2 percent.
