Believe it or not, the murder of Gauri Lankesh is a chilling example of rising intolerance and bigotry across the country. Although all political parties came out together against the assassination of the journalist but somewhere somehow things are to be corrected.
Gauri Lankesh was known for her strong views against right-wing forces and she was a staunch critic of the Hindutva politics.
Thousands of journalists and members of civil society condemned the murder and widespread protests erupted as many described the incident as an attack on the freedom of expression in our country.
In New Delhi, protesters were gathered at the press club and expressed their anger over the gruesome murder. However, a video has gone viral in which former JNU students’ union leader, Shehla Rashid slammed Republic TV representative and said that they don’t want Republic TV at the venue.

“You guys have been covering up the murder (Gauri Lankesh)… So get out. Please don’t put the mic in front me. We don’t want Republic TV here. They have a hand in covering up the assassination of Gauri Lankesh.”
“These people only work at the order of a BJP MP, who funds the channel… Anyone, who’s celebrating this murder, we condemn in strongest possible words.”
Rashid also pointed out how people like Nikhil Dadhich, followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had said: “One bitch dies a dog’s death and every puppy is crying in pain.”
