Wakanda suddenly participates in Sam and Bucky’s mission in the third episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier .
While the Falcon and the Winter Soldier was to be expected to reference the events taking place in the MCU, few expected the new series to overlap with the Black Panther franchise .
But that’s exactly what happened in Episode 3, when Sam and Bucky (Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan) delve into the history of the Flag Destroyers. Spoilers ahead!
An important event in the third episode was the presence of Baron Zemo by Daniel Brühl, the villain “The First Avenger: Confrontation” , whose connection with HYDRA makes him the ideal person to track super-soldiers. Accordingly, Bucky frees him from prison to help them, but as Sam reminds him, he is not the most reliable guy.
He blew up the UN, killed King T’Chaka, and set you up. Have you forgotten about it? Do you think the people of Wakandan have forgotten about it?
This is an interesting plot twist that few could have foreseen, especially given the turmoil in the Black Panther franchise following the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020. We already know that we will soon see a new Black Panther in the MCU, however it is not yet known how the studio will deal with Ch’alla. Given that the details of his father’s death were only now revealed, the writers will be able to explain the absence of Boseman’s hero.
