The Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) under the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is an excellent platform for 12th pass candidates to start with their careers. The salary scales from Rs. 19,000 to Rs. 21,700 for the undergraduate posts under RRB NTPC while it hovers between Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 35,400 for the graduate posts.

This year, the recruitment is going on for 35,000+ vacancies for different posts. Hence, there are a lot of opportunities and positions that students can attempt each year. Even 12th pass students can attempt this exam, and if they are successful, they can avail themselves packages of more than 20K and job security. Mentioned below are the eligibility and salary packages of the RRB NTPC exam.

RRB NTPC – Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of the candidates for the RRB NTPC 2021 recruitment mainly depend on a few factors.

Age Limit: The age limit for the recruitment process is divided into two categories:

  1. 18 to 30 years for undergraduate posts.
  2. 18 to 33 years for graduate posts.

Nationality: To be eligible for the RRB NTPC posts, the candidate must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal / Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who has been living in India since 1st January 1962 or before.

Educational Qualification:

  1. Goods Guard  – 7th CPC Level: 5, Qualification: Degree in any field from a recognized university or equivalent qualification.
  2. Station Master – 7th CPC Level: 6, Qualification: Degree in any field from a recognized university or equivalent qualification.
  3. Jr. Clerk and Typist – 7th CPC Level: 2, Qualification: 10 + 2 or equivalent diploma with an aggregate of at least 50% or above and proficiency in computer typing in English / Hindi Language.
  4. Sr. Clerk and Typist – 7th CPC Level: 2, Qualification: Degree in any field from a recognized university or equivalent qualification and proficiency in computer typing in English / Hindi Language.
  5. Jr. Accounts Assistant Cum Typist – 7th CPC Level: 5, Qualification: Degree in any field from a recognized university or equivalent qualification and proficiency in computer typing in English / Hindi Language.
  6. Accounts Clerk and Typist – 7th CPC Level: 2, Qualification: 10+2 or equivalent diploma with an aggregate of at least 50% or above. Proficiency in computer typing in English / Hindi Language.
  7. Jr. Timekeeper – 7th CPC Level: 5, Qualification: 10+2 or equivalent diploma with an aggregate of at least 50% or above. Proficiency in computer typing in English / Hindi Language.
  8. Sr. Time Keeper – 7th CPC Level: 5, Qualification: Degree in any field from a recognized university or equivalent qualification. Proficiency in computer typing in English / Hindi Language.
  9. Train Clerk – 7th CPC Level: 2, Qualification: 10 + 2 or equivalent diploma with an aggregate of at least 50% or above.
  10. Commercial and Ticket Clerk – 7th CPC Level: 3, Qualification: 10 + 2 or equivalent diploma with an aggregate of at least 50% or above.

RRB NTPC – Age Relaxation

The age relaxation for the upper age limit in the RRB NTPC exam is dependent on the categories. The following table showcases brief information about relaxation for different categories.

  • Relaxation for General Category: Zero Relaxation
  • OBC: 3 years
  • SC / ST: 5 years
  • PwD (Unreserved): 10 years
  • PwD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwD (SC / ST): 15 years
  • Widows / Divorced Women (Unreserved): 3 years
  • Widows / Divorced Women (OBC): 5 years
  • Widows / Divorced Women (SC / ST): 8 years

  • Base Salary: Rs.19,000
  • Grade Pay: Rs. 2,800
  • Dearness Allowance: 12% of Base Salary
  • HRA: 8% of Base Salary
  • Travel Allowance: Rs. 2,016
  • Total: Rs. 28,696

Traffic Assistant

  • Base Salary: Rs. 25,000
  • Grade Pay: Rs. 2,800
  • Dearness Allowance: 12% of Base Salary
  • HRA: 8% of Base Salary
  • Travel Allowance: Rs. 2,016
  • Total: Rs. 35,416

Senior Accounts Clerk cum Typist / Senior Time Keeper / Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk / Jr. Account Assistant cum Typist / Goods Guard

  • Base Salary: Rs. 29,200
  • Grade Pay: Rs. 2,800
  • Dearness Allowance: 12% of Base Salary
  • HRA: 8% of Base Salary
  • Travel Allowance: Rs. 2,016
  • Total: Rs. 39,856

Station Master / Commercial Apprentice

  • Base Salary: Rs. 35,400
  • Grade Pay: Rs. 4,200
  • Dearness Allowance: 12% of Base Salary
  • HRA: 8% of Base Salary

  • Total: Rs. 48,696
