SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR, whose song Naatu Naatu won an Oscars this year. In Japan the movie witnessed a successful run which was launched in October 21 last year now grossing over ₹80 crore. The film, which was streamed over 209 screens and 31 Imax screens channelized in 44 cities in Japan, marking its presence as the highest-grossing Indian film in the country.
The official Twitter handle of director SS director Rajamouli’s RRR posted that the film have wrapped up 20th week of run in cinemas in Japan. The post read, “This tweet’s engagement and compliments demonstrate how RRR is gradually penetrating into the roots of Japan with each passing day. Glad that the film is drawing exceptionally high footfalls and is currently running in 202 cinemas in its 20th week! Love you Japan (sic).”
According to a report by Box Office India, RRR have minted over ₹80 crore and will soon reach the ₹100 crore-mark. RRR have minted ₹1000 crore worldwide as of now.
After bagging the Oscar for Naatu Naatu, composer MM Keeravani said in his acceptance speech: “There was only one wish on my mind…RRR has to win …the pride of every Indian…and it must put me on the top of the world.”
