Popular fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee is receiving flak from social media for his remarks on women. In one of Instagram posts, he stated that “overdressed women are most likely to be wounded”.

This raged social media users as they found it objectionable. By this post, Sabyasachi was intended to endorse his jewellery line. Social media users called his post “misogynistic”, “ignorant” and “sexist”. However, Sabyasachi in his defence said that the post was “intended as a message of love and empathy and a call to look beyond exterior appearances” which wasn’t articulated correctly.
Later seeing an outrage from netizens, Sabyasachi took no time to post an apology on social media. This is what he said:
Earlier also Sabyasachigot trolled for his comment he made on Indian women who don’t know how to wear a saree. He said that Indian women particularly the younger generation should know how to wear it. He criticised the Indian women for not wearing the saree and giving preference to western outfits instead. He, however, later apologised for his comments in an open letter.
