Salman Khan, a Bollywood actor, displayed his wit and humour when hosting the 2023 Filmfare Awards. When he made a joke about Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt’s abandoned movie Inshallah, the actor made fun of them.
Salman and Alia were slated to play the major characters in Bhansali’s 2019 film Inshallah. The movie was reportedly abandoned before filming began due to creative disagreements between Bhansali and Khan.
In the clip floating online, Salman is heard saying, “I have to thank god for Alia Bhatt..,” Salman stepped in, saying, “Inshallah.” After hearing Salman, Bhansali and Alia started laughing. Finally, Salman repeated, “Inshallah.”
A fan wrote post watching Alia’s reaction, “She was so excited to work with Salman.” Another penned down, “Trust me Salman Bhansali combo would have been epic. Salman’s stardom plus Bhansali’s direction would have run riot at the box office.”
Bhansali spoke candidly about the cancelled movie when promoting Gangubai Kathiawadi, referring to Salman as a “very dear friend.” He averred, “We all change as people. So he has changed, in his mind I have changed. It’s not like we are strangers or we do not like each other or we do not speak to each other.”
The director further added, “My utmost regard and respect for the person who did Khamoshi for me, who did Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam for me, and who stood by me during Sawariyaa. He has been an important part of who I am today and I will always respect him for it. The ball is in his court for him to decide if he wants to work with me.”
