In a recently resurfaced video, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan said ‘I wasn’t the one who shot the blackbuck.’ This statement has grabbed the attention because the blackbuck poaching case is one of the many cases he has fought in court for over twenty-six years.
‘The case was reopened and closed since 1998’ multiple times. Salman was found not guilty in 2016, but in 2018, he was convicted and later released on bail. The blackbuck hunting case also raised other issues for Salman, including threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, whose gang considers blackbucks sacred animals. Because of these threats, Salman recently had to beef up his security. But in the meantime, an old video of Salman’s interview from the year 2008 has struck a viral chord. In this interview posted on the Reddit website, Salman Khan discusses the blackbuck shooting case and he said that he distanced himself from shooting the animal.
During the interview, the host refers to Salman as a “victim of ignorance,” probably meaning that Salman did not know that the blackbuck that he shot at was an endangered species. When he was directly asked whether this was true, Salman answered, ‘There is a long story there,’. And… I was not the person who fired at the blackbuck.” His statement has once more created public interest as to what exactly happened.
Salman Khan Faces Threats and Apologies from Lawrence Bishnoi’s Gang
Salman Khan’s troubles haven’t stopped with just the court cases. Recently, Salman has received a threatening message with a demand of Rs 5 crore to stop enmity with Rajasthan-based criminal Lawrence Bishnoi. The threat was received in a text message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police control room on October 18. The sender said he was an associate of Bishnoi’s gang and told Salman that if he didn’t pay the amount, his life would be at risk. The message also further reminded Salman that if the money was not provided, his condition would be ‘worse than Baba Siddique.
But only 4 days later, there was another message sent to the Mumbai police from the same number. This time the sender apologized saying that the threatening message was sent “by” mistake. Despite the apology, the Mumbai police tracked the individual’s location to Jharkhand. The matter is still considered unsolved because the threat is still a potential danger to Salman’s life. With the legal battles around the Blackbuck case, the resurfacing of his confession in the video, and the ongoing threats, Salman Khan is continuously facing challenges that go beyond his acting career. Therefore his security has been heightened.
