Samsung has launched its latest Galaxy series smartphones – S8 and S8+. Both the models were launched at an event in New York yesterday. The company also launched Gear VR with a controller and new redesigned version of Camera 360.
However, the company did not announce the price of the smartphones. now reports have come that reveal US pricing of smartphones – Galaxy S8 at $720 and Galaxy S8+ at $840 (Verizon prices).
The AT&T is offering Galaxy S8 at $750 and S8+ at $850. TMobile is also offering the same price as AT&T.
Almost all the carriers in the US are also bundling Samsung VR Gear free with Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones. Some are also offering discounts on Samsung Gear S3, Gear S2 and some Samsung tablets.
It is likely that Samsung bundles its VR Gear with the new smartphones in India as well. Samsung last year launched Galaxy S7 at Rs 48,900 and Galaxy S7 edge at Rs 56,900 in India.
The smartphones’ US pricing has seen somewhat jump of 15%, so of the same pattern is followed in India then Samsung Galaxy S8 is likely to be priced around at Rs 55,000 and Galaxy S8+ at Rs 65,000. Currently, the smartphones are available at best price of Rs 41,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
Galaxy S8 and S8+ run on Google’s latest OS Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Samsung Galaxy S8 sports a 5.8-inch QuadHD+ (2960×1440) ‘Infinity Display’ with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 570ppi pixel density. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage.
Preorders for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will start today (March 30) at 12:01 am ET in the US and devices will available in stores from April 21. Though Samsung has not announced the India launch, it is likely that the duo launch in India too on the same date (April 21).
