On Wednesday, Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has sought to clarify his stance on the ongoing controversies surrounded the movie Padmavati, through a video message. Bhansali cleared the air over the rumoured romantic scene between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji in Padmavati. Bhansali said the period drama, featuring Deepika Padukone as queen Padmavati, Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Rawal Ratan Singh upholds the honour of Rajputs and does not depict anything controversial.

The official Twitter handle of Padmavati shared the video and captioned it, “This is my tribute to the sacrifice, valour and honour of Rani Padmavati! – Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”
Dream scene has been filmed between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji
Bhansali said in the video message: ” Rumour is this, in the movie a dream scene has been filmed between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji. I have already rejected this claim and also given a written proof of this. Today again, I am reiterating through this video that in our movie there is no such scene between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, which would hurt the sentiments of anyone.”
Bhansali further added that he has always been inspired by Rani Padmavati’s story and this film salutes her valour and sacrifice. The whole team have made this film with responsibility and also considered the sentiments and dignity of Rajput community.
