In a major step, the Saudi Ministry of Trade and Industry has listed Yoga under sports activities and now people can practice it freely. The whole credit goes to 37-year old Nouf Marwaai, the woman who dedicated her life in promoting Yoga in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf.

Nouf Marwaai, who teaches yoga to thousands in the Islamic nation is a Saudi businesswoman and entrepreneur. Nouf Marwaai has achieved the status of Yogacharinie Nouf Marwaai, a title awarded in Kerala, India as she has been practising yoga since 1998.
Apart from a yoga teacher, Nouf Marwaai is also a practitioner of Ayurvedic Indian medicine, lifestyle counsellor, Ayurveda and clinical psychologist.
Nouf Marwaai Approached Princess Reema Bint Bandar Alsaud
Nouf Marwaai after getting the rejection from the authorities, approached the princess, a member of the Royal Council, Reema Bint Bandar Alsaud, the same woman who started the basketball for women in Saudi Arabia.
“Princess Reema Bint Bandar Alsaud was chosen to be the Deputy of the General Sports Authority and she welcomed all leaders in any sports for women to approach her directly. Sports have been allowed for women this year and driving as well.”
Nouf Marwaai Holds Many Respectable Positions
Nouf Marwaai is the Regional Director of Yoga Alliance International in the Gulf Region 2009, founder of the Saudi Arabia Yoga School 2008 and the Yoga Alliance International, Honorary Secretary of the International Yoga Federation for Saudi Arabia and Arab Countries 2010, Vice President of the Yoglimpic Committee in India 2012 and the president of the Arab Yoga Foundation 2010.
Nouf Marwaai said:
“I do yoga and naturopathy, my disease is stable and my doctors are surprised. That is why I became a champion of yoga and have been promoting it in Saudi Arabia.”
Nouf holds a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy and Lifestyle, Shobhit University India and a Diploma in Medical Yoga.
