Scientists have been struggling from the last one decade in an attempt to find out the answer to a simple question, Why people love each other? Now, they have found something or if I elaborate the statement, “Scientists have found evidence that humans evolved to fall in love. Yes, Evolved!!
“Love influences reproductive success, as measured by the number of children people have.”
Commitment Associated With Number Of Children
Research has carried out on the Hadza people of Tanzania because, in modern or so-called civilized world, factors such as contraception disrupt the potential link between love and number of children. The result showed that commitment to a partner in both the genders is associated with the number of children.
Triangular Love Scale
The scientists used a method called the triangular love scale. It is based on three components that measure the depth of love:
The researchers wrote:
“We found that commitment and reproductive success were positively and consistently related in both sexes.”
Passion and commitment are probably the key factors that increase the possibility of reproduction. Professor Michael Gratzke, a linguist and founder of the Love Research Network at the University of Hull, said: “I really like what this team has done. I don’t know if any concept of love exists in the Hadza language, and I don’t know how that would have been conveyed.”
“The other question is what does this mean for people now? We are not hunter-gatherers by and large, so the way we organise ourselves in relationships obviously may be very different.”
