On Saturday, the Vasai court acquitted Sheezan Khan who was held by Waliv police after Tunisha Sharma’s death. His bail was granted on terms of personal bond of ₹1 lakh and one or two sureties of the similar nature.
According to statement by advocate Tarun Sharma, defending Tunisha’s family, the magistrate court has asked Sheezan to submit his passport to the investigating officer and not leave Mumbai without the court’s permission. He has been asked to attend court proceedings on a regular basis.
Tunisha Sharma was found dead during the shoot of her show Alibaba Dastaan-E-Kabul on December 24. After the incident, Waliv police arrested Sheezan against charges of abetment to suicide in accordance to the Indian Penal Code. The case was filed by Tunisha’s mother, Vanita Sharma. Vanita and Tunisha’s uncle Pawan, had alleged that Sheezan’s mother and sisters had enforced Urdu and made the late actor wear hijab. However, Sheezan’s family made it clear throughout that the Tunisha and Sheezan mutually broke up before Tunisha was found dead.
Sheezan was imprisoned for 70 days in jail. Reacting to the bail his sister Shafaq Naaz spoke to Hindustan Times, “It’s finally big news (for us). We are very happy this is what we have been waiting for.”
