According to the sources, Shobha Galmadu has been running a sex racket in Kalyan, Badlapur and Ambernath for the past two years and forcing money from sex workers. Galmadu along with her manager Suresh Shetty and driver Vinod Yadav has been arrested and police have seized cash worth Rs 59000 and rescued two women from the deadly coupling of the prostitution racket. The anti-human trafficking cell (AHTC) arrested a woman Shiv Sena leader from Ulhasnagar, who allegedly ran a sex racket in Kalyan, Mumbai. According to the police –
We received a tip about Galmadu’s illegal business activities a few days ago. On Saturday, we were told that she had visited Durga Palace lodge with a client. We laid a trap early in the morning and arrested her while she was in possession of cash that she had received from her customer. She was distributing money to girls and hotel workers at the time.
After Galmadu’s arrest, Sena city president Rajendra Chaudhari of Ulhasnagar city has claimed the party had already removed her a year ago and had informed the police about her. The police have recorded statements of the victims of sexual harassment and booked Galmadu under sections 370(2)(3) of the Indian Penal Code, which deal with trafficking of persons, and various sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
