In a heart-wrenching news, a father has allegedly killed his 3 weeks old daughter after assaulting her from the day she was born. However, he has denied the accusations against him.
Mikayla Haining was only 23 days old she died on June 8 last year at a flat in Inverness and her father, 20-year-old Thomas Haining, appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow, United Kingdom yesterday. He allegedly assaulted Mikayla repeatedly from the day she was born to the day. She succumbed to death following her injuries.
Thomas is charged with repeatedly inflicting blunt force trauma to baby girl’s head and body and is accused of murdering the baby at her home. However, Thomas has denied all the charges against him and Shelagh McCall QC, representing Haining, told the court there was a problem obtaining expert medical witnesses for the defence. She said, “There is a dearth of experts for this kind of case in Scotland and those there are have been snapped up by the Crown.”
The case is in the court and the investigations are on! Police initially treated the death as ‘unexplained’ before later describing it as ‘suspicious’.
