Samantha Ruth Prabhu declared in November 2021 that she will collaborate on an Indo-British project with Philip John, the director of Downton Abbey. The Arrangements of Love, the best-selling novel by Timeri N. Murari published in 2004, is adapted for the big screen in this English movie. But Shruti Haasan and Viveik Kalra will now be the leading roles in the coming-of-age romantic comedy.
A romantic comedy, Chennai Story is set in Wales and India. Shruti is set to portray Anu, a feisty private investigator. BAFTA winner Philip wrote and directed the movie, while Nimmi Harasgama co-wrote it. The majority of the film will be in English, with a small amount in Welsh and Tamil. It will explore the themes of self-expression and acceptance.

“Hailing from Chennai, this story that showcases the diversity and uniqueness of the city is special to me.” she says, adding, “I look forward to collaborating with Phil. Telling rooted stories via international collaborations is what making cinema is all about.”
Plot
In The Arrangements of Love, a bisexual Tamil lady who owns a detective business is the main character. An Indian-Welsh guy is searching for his father, who has been estranged. Viveik will portray the man looking for his father, while Shruti will play the investigator who assists him.Samantha had tried out for the part of Anu, but since the actor is taking a leave of absence, it appears that the filmmakers have chosen to move forward without her.
