Balkaur Singh, father of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, on Saturday made it clear through social media that he is not currently planning to enter politics. He appealed to the people not to pay heed to any rumors. He said that I am very sad to see different types of news on social media. You guys support me, I don’t want anything else in this sad time.
Actually, many social media posts and news were coming out regarding the entry of Sidhu Moosewala’s father into politics. Congress wanted to field Moosewala’s father from the Sangrur seat, which was supported by even Amarinder Singh. Now rejecting these reports, Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh said through social media, “Sad to see many discussions on social media, I appeal to people not to pay attention to such rumors.”
He further said, “The fire of my son’s pyre has not even cooled down and I don’t feel like contesting any elections. I pay attention to all those who stood by me in this hour of grief. For my son’s sake. I request all the supporters to attend the Bhog Ceremony on 8th June. This statement of Musewala’s father has come to the fore after meeting Home Minister Amit Shah in Chandigarh.
Significantly, after the murder of Musewala, the Congress party wanted to field his father Balkaur Singh from the Sangrur seat. It was Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring who recommended him to be fielded. Not only this, he had asked all political parties to make Musewala’s father the candidate without any opposition.
