Manipur is once again thrown into the bowl of chaos and protests over the issue of Inner Line Permit (ILP). According to some information, these Manipur protests has increased a lot and is getting difficult for the police to handle.
ILP provides a citizen the allowance to travel into a protected area for a limited time. The protestors want the government to reduce the number of immigrants by ordering the allowance of ILP to enter the state and reconsider the three bills passed by Manipur Assembly in the year 2015.
There are no casualties but the reports say that the number of injured has increased to 21 after six more people got hurt on Tuesday.
Police even resorted to lathi charge, water cannons, and tear gas to stop the protestors from reaching Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh’s office. The protests are getting that much violent that the state government had to order the closure of all the schools, colleges, and educational institutions till 2nd June.
The Joint Committee, Inner Line Permit System ( JCILPS) has declared a ‘public curfew’ in all the in all the state and center government offices from 1 June and 3 June and warned all the non-locals staying in the greater Imphal to remain inside their houses during the curfew.
