Actor Sobhita Dhulipala was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s masterpiece Ponniyin Selvan 2. Sobhita’s role in the movie was fairly little despite the fact that it did well at the box office internationally since she shared the cast with Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
While Sobhita admits she would like to have more on-screen time, she is thankful to have been a part of a programme where she was the star. She feels equally at home in the setting of an ensemble movie like Ponniyin Selvan 2.
“I think I’ve had opportunities in my career where I got to frontline a show, and I’ve got a very small part in a very crowded talent pool, like a PS. I’ve been part of different kinds of environments and I like it all. I think variety is something all actors thrive on. I’m not too hellbent on being this overnight diva, star. I don’t feel that attached. I want to have a meaningful, long career where I get to do various characters and I want to do them well,” Sobhita revealed during a conversation with Bollywood Hungama.
She mentioned The Night Manager as the role where she used silences a lot to convey in the brief amount of screen time her character received. More of her character “fleshes out in Part 2 of The Night Manager, and the arc is quite exciting,” Sobhita further said. “From the beginning, I didn’t have characters that were very large in their screen time. So it taught me to use the tit-bits to bring punch into that”.
The Night Manager, Sandeep Modi’s adaptation of the well-known novel and British television series, will include Sobhita again in Part 2. In the thriller series, she will be matched up against Anil Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur. On June 30, Part 2 of the programme will stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
In Made in Heaven Season 2, the Prime Video India series produced by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s Tiger Baby Films, she will also reprise her role as Tara Khanna.
