The recently released Bollywood film “Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” directed by Karan Johar has certainly raised the bar for Indian and bridal wear design. It features a variety of gorgeous ethnic ensembles that skillfully combine traditional Indian components with a contemporary and edgy touch. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Raghav Mittal, MD and Creative Director of The House of Surya, explained some bridal style advice from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
The movie’s “most-talked-about” stunning bridal orange-golden lehenga on star Alia Bhatt is one of the standout looks. It has elaborate hand embroidery and decorations that give off an air of luxury and magnificence. It is the perfect option for a woman who wants to make a statement on her wedding day because of the striking colour combinations of burnt orange with radiant golden embroidery and the use of opulent fabrics that give it a regal sense.
Another ensemble that attracted notice was the pink-green ombré modern chiffon sari, which was draped in an unusual and distinctive way. It preserves the beauty of the traditional Indian clothing while adding a touch of modernism.
The creative sleeveless blouse patterns and intriguing drapes allow for experimentation and adaptability, providing future brides with a plethora of alternatives to highlight their own style.
Apart from these attires, the film also features a range of fusion costumes that effectively combine Western and Indian styles.
The red and white Bengali Korial saree was transformed to red and gold for the Dhindora Baje song. This added elegance and drama, along with the use of gold accents, beautifully captured Rani’s Bengali heritage. This was made with a traditional Jamdani, a delicate muslin cloth. Brides can also wear this style to make a statement during special events and celebrations.
