Ram Pothineni, the popular Tollywood actor fined Rs 200 by the Hyderabad police on Monday for smoking a cigarette at a public place. This all happened when the actor is shooting for his upcoming film iSmart Shankar near the city’s historic Charminar. The actor was caught by the police while he was lighting a cigarette as per the part of his role for the movie.

Hyderabad police recently launched a drive against public smoking under their jurisdiction. Ram is charged under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COPTA) 2003 and he paid the fine. Charminar police station sub-inspector, B Pandary told the media,
“So far 20 persons were caught and fined for smoking at the Charminar. We intend to continue the drive because it helps in spreading awareness about ill effects of tobacco.”

Charminar police launched a plan to curb public smoking, by imposing fines of Rs 200, on those who are caught in the act.
On the professional front, Ram Pothineni is all set to appear on the screen iSmart Shankar. Apart from him, Bollywood actress Nidhhi Agerwal is also starring in the film.
