Legendary singer SP Balasubramaniam, who has sung more than 40 thousand songs in 16 languages, has passed away. Singer, who has given voice to more than 40 thousand songs in his career, breathed his last in the Chennai hospital at 1:04 pm.
74-year-old Balasubramaniam left behind his wife Savatri and two children – daughter Pallavi and son Charan. According to an India Today report, Singer will be cremated by his son SP Charan.

SP Charan used to share updates related to his father’s health on social media. SP Charan is also a singer like his father. Apart from this, he is also an actor and producer of Tamil cinema.
SP Balasubramaniam ran away and married wife Savatri. In a conversation with The Hindu newspaper, Singer had said that my first Lambretta scooter, which I bought from a friend. Its price was 3200 rupees at that time. It was quite expensive.
According to Balasubramaniam- ‘At that time I used to get 300 rupees for a song. I used to take Savitri on a date on that scooter. We loved riding on the scooter. Both of us ran away and got married on this scooter.’
SP Balasubramanian was born on 4 June 1946 in the Telugu Brahmin family in Nellore city of Andhra Pradesh. He is survived by two brothers and five sisters in his family. Hee has a sister SP Shailaja who is an Indian singer and actress. She has sung about six thousand songs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages.
SP Balasubramanian’s name is also recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. He recorded 21 songs for a Kannada film on February 8, 1981 from 9 am to 9 pm i.e. 12 hours.
