She aspired to become a fashion designer but destiny had already decided something bad for her. It’s a story of Islam Maytat, a 23 years old Moroccan woman who is now a widow of an ISIS terrorist. She married Khalid Ahmad who faked as an Afghan-British businessman but was an ISIS terrorist in actual. Ahmad showed her fake dreams of living together in London after marriage but he brought her to Syria.
Her tragic story begins
Ahmad showed her fake dreams of living together in London after marriage but he brought her to Syria. Islam told the media that, “It was a family marriage. I was just like any other girl getting what she wanted: a husband”. She met Ahmad through social media and the two got married afterward.
Ahmad had a British nationality, and so Islam was hoping to live in Britain after marriage. But soon sweet dreams of living a life in a beautiful city London turned into worst nightmares. He first took her to Afghanistan by convincing her that they have to see his family. After a month there, they came back to Morocco. She spent a month and a half in Morocco before packed again, and then her husband had convinced her he found a job in Turkey.
Everything seemed normal there until the Ahmad had started asking her to change the way she dressed. He asked her to put on a modern dress and leave wearing Abaya, the traditional Muslim women dress. One day they crossed Turkish-Syrian border and left Turkey too. She said,
“I was afraid, and I thought I would better keep silent lest I get hurt. I was a stranger in the country. I decided to remain silent until I find a way to flee the place. I was scared they might discover what was going on in my mind and accuse me of apostasy or something like that. My fate would have been terrible.”
Her husband was killed in 2014 in a battle and she became a widow in her early 20’s. But the young widow was pregnant with her first son, Abdullah. Life of a young widow in Syria is horribly miserable, so she got married to a friend of her late husband but soon after she asked for a divorce and moved on to another house.
Her third husband was an Indian ISIS fighter who also became a father of her second child, a baby girl, later on. She was looking for a person who would help her escape from ISIS. “There, I met individuals from People’s Protection Units (YPG) and they were the ones who helped me get out of Raqqa. They took me to the territories held by Syrian Democratic Forces,” she said.
And fortunately, she managed to end her nightmare. She told the world about her heartbreaking story in a press conference. Holding her young daughter, who was sitting on her lap, while her son was looking to cameras with amazed eyes. We hope for a better tomorrow for her!!
