“Contentious” Padmaavat hits theatres today amid high security. The film starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor has been facing protests by the Rajput organisation Karni Sena and other fringe groups over various allegations. The film inspired by 16th-century fictional poem titled Padmavat penned by Sufi pet Malik Muhammed Jayasi. Acts of vandalism were reported in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
There were rumours or unverified reports that poet Jayasi was born in a small village of Uttar Pradesh known as Jayasi. Moreover, It is also believed that CM Yogi Adityanath has a strong connection to this place.
Connection Between Yogi Adityanath And Film Padmaavat
Yogi Adityanath’s guru Gorakhnath was also born in Jayasi. However, after Yogi became the chief minister of UP, people expected him to visit Jayasi but he didn’t.
On the other hand, people of the village Jayasi are now demanding a share from the films’ earnings as they want to do some work related to the restoration of the birthplace of the poet.
