Officially, Stranger Things Season 5 production has underway on January 8. This week, Netflix revealed the much anticipated news to the devoted fans of the show on its official Instagram account. A group photo of the Stranger Things cast in black and white was published by the streaming behemoth, which also happens to be the show’s home, to announce that the upcoming season’s production had begun. However, fans quickly noticed that one character—Eduardo Franco’s long-haired pizza delivery kid, Argyle—was missing.

Eduardo has explicitly said that his character, Argyle, will not be returning for the upcoming season of the show, ending nearly a week of conjecture. Below is everything he stated on his exit from the show.
Eduardo Franco quits the series

Franco stated his character Argyle won’t be returning in the fifth episode of the sci-fi horror series in an interview with YouTube film and TV reviewer Steve Varley.
When the host inquired about his plans to return for a second season of Stranger Things, he responded, “It’s nice to hear that there’s, there’s some sort of, you know, concern or something, you know what I mean?”
In the fourth season of Stranger Things, James Franco debuted as Argyle, a character who quickly won over fans by offering much-needed comic relief amidst the show’s dramatic sci-fi plot.
Release of Stranger Things season 5

Among the well-known performers who star in Stranger Things are Winona Ryder, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Charlie Heaton, Sadie Sink, and Milly Bobby Brown. The news of the formal start of the show’s season 5 production was announced by Netflix on its Instagram page. The same does not yet have an official release date. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that lasted into 2023 caused a delay in the production of the beloved show’s fifth and final season.

In conversation with The Guardian, co-creator Matt Duffer said, “This season, it’s like season one on steroids. It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun because everyone’s back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting more in line with how it was in season one.”
