Last month we witnessed the Pink super moon, But now there is another good news for all the moon gazers. As they are soon going to see another moon called flower super moon. So let’s know more about it
What is Super moon and why it is called so?
When the moon looks bigger and brighter than the usual moon it is called the super moon. As per the Farmer’s Alamanac, It is also called Flower Moon because, in most areas, flowers are abundant everywhere at this time of the year. During this time the moon’s orbit comes quite close to the Earth. It looks brighter and larger as it comes closer. The average distance between the Earth and the Moon is usually 384,400 kilometers. But today distance between the Earth and the Moon will be 361,184 kilometers.
When It will be seen?
The Super Flower Moon will reach peak illumination at 4.15 pm IST on May 7th. The full moon visible today is the last ‘supermoon’ of this year. Although due to it’s timings in India people here will be deprived of seeing it. The next supermoon will be seen in the year 2021 in April. According to NASA, this full moon which appears in May of this year is also called the Vaishakh festival moon.
