Star Wars: The Last Jedi is without a doubt one of the most controversial movies in the Skywalker saga. At the same time, the film does clearly attempt to defeat some of the expectations of fans, making it a pretty surprising film.
One of the most surprising moments was the death of Supreme Leader Snoke, who was cut in half by Kylo Ren. That after fans speculated for two years about Snoke and his role in the future of the franchise.
Not interesting
Director Rian Johnson gave an interview to writer Sariah Wilson. According to her, he said that he did not find the question of who Snoke was interesting at all. Continuing that story felt a bit like repeating the first movie trilogy to him.
Sariah continues, “Snoke was a bad father figure to Kylo, basically. He said it got to a point where he realized that instead of “repeating exactly the original trilogy,” which if they drew it into the last movie with Snoke still being the Emperor figure and Kylo being like Vader, it’s just going.”
Unfortunately, JJ Abrams decided to put aside the storyline set up by Johnson with Kylo Ren as the ultimate villain. He brought back Palpatine in his Rise of Skywalker , making the trilogy a repeat of the original movie trilogy.
Ultimately, both films are still productions that divide people into lovers and haters .
