Sushant, who has been known as the face of popular show Savdhaan India, has announced his sudden exit from the crime-based show. The actor made the announcement on micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “And, my stint with Savdhaan India has ended.”
It was reported that Sushant Singh excluded from the ‘Savdhaan India’ show due to opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act. But the channel’s statement has now surfaced regarding the case of Savdhan India show host and the reason behind his exit. The Star India channel has clarified the matter. It has been told that Sushant Singh’s contract was going to end on 15 January which was the reason to say goodbye to the show. But the decision has not been taken to remove him due to his political ideology. A report published in Hindustan Times states that a spokesperson of the channel has issued a statement regarding this. He said, ‘Star India is disappointed with some of the statements made after the change in Savdhan India. Savdhaan India has often experimented with its format. The channel has worked with many hosts over this seven-year journey. The current host was recalled in October 2019. Their contract will end on January 15, 2020. The new contract has not been signed as there is no need of a new host in Savdhaan India. The channel has no political ideology behind it.
Sushant knew that this was the last day of his shoot. However, he chose a different way to express it. Speaking to PTI regarding this issue he said that according to the contract, they should give me one month’s notice period, after that whether I choose to shoot or not during that time was solely my decision. I do not want to link the two things he added. I went to the CAA Protest and that night I got messages that it was the last day of my shoot. According to me it might be a coincidence ora well-planned decision. I don’t want to speculate. ‘
Right now many celebs are expressing their opinion about the Citizenship Amendment Act. Some are in favor of this, while some are opposing. Sushant Singh also participated in a demonstration against this law in Mumbai. Sushant dropped hints that his participation in the ongoing protest against CAA could be the reason for the same. In fact, talking about his exit, he even called it a ‘small price’ for speaking out.
