The Padmaavat film not only sparked controversy outside of Bollywood but inside too. In a recent scenario, Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar who has been vocal about several issues has watched Padmaavat first day first show and writes an open letter to Sanjay Leela Bhansali calling out the director for glorifying Sati and Jauhar in his film.

Swara was actually not satisfied by the end of the film where Rani Padmini (Deepika Padukone) commits Jauhar to save herself from evil Alauddin Khilji. She said that she felt reduced to a vagina by the end of it. Well for her opinions she was backlashed by the social media users.
In her open letter published on The Wire, Swara had questioned whether women – widowed, old, young, raped, pregnant, and pre-pubescent – have the right to live. Swara’s opinions haven’t gone too well with a lot of people including Suchitra Krishnamoorthi.
