Over the years, world cricket has shrunk to different formats, from test cricket to one-day to T20. And now, it’s time for 10 cricket. Yes, you heard it right! Virender Sehwag, Kumar Sangakkara, Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi will be part of the T10 league, named as Ten Cricket League, which will be played in the UAE.
Team Maratha, Team Punjabis, Team Lankans, Team Pakhtoons, Team Keralites, Team Banglas and Team Sindhis are the teams that will take part in the tournament.
The tournament will begin on December 21 and end up on December 24. Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE will host the league. The interesting part is that the league will have a 10-over-a-side match.
According to the Khaleej Times, owner of Team Pakhtoons, Habib Khan said: “I am excited to have Shahid Afridi, one of the greatest cricketers ever, to lead my team and you will see Pakhtoons in full force.”
Meanwhile, president of the TCL, Shaji ul Mulk commented: “We are very excited about the concept of T10 as it brings cricket to the level of world sports of 90 minutes and fast pace action.”
Mulk further added: “We all enjoy T20. Wait till you experience T10! We have based this league on a South Asian concept as we have a dominant south Asian, cricket crazy population in the UAE and GCC.”
