Despite a convincing four-wicket victory against Durham, Nottinghamshire was just one visit away from making their seventh consecutive participation in the T20 Blast quarterfinals. The captain at least got to see a fantastic chase spearheaded by Joe Clarke and Ben Duckett, who helped Nottinghamshire knock down the necessary 184 in just 17 overs in what was Dan Christian’s final game for them. Earlier, Durham reached 183 thanks to lower order contributions including Michael Jones’s calm 41 and Ashton Turner’s flurry of an 18-ball 33.

Brief scores: Durham 183/8 in 20 overs (Michael Jones 41, Ashton Turner 33; Jake Ball 3-39, Steven Mullaney 3-25) lost to Nottinghamshire 184/6 in 17 overs (Joe Clarke 51, Ben Duckett 53*) by 4 wickets.
