The 1983 winning team of the World Cup expressed their concern over the wrestler’s protest and urged the players to not take any extreme decision and avoid immersing their medals into the holy river Ganga.
In an unexpected turn of events, the best wrestlers in India have increased their protests against Wrestlers’ Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over the alleged sexual harassment case and have travelled to Haridwar to throw their medals, including those won at the Olympics, into the Ganges.
Wrestler Bajrang Punia claimed on Thursday that the protesters had not anticipated such a stern response from Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha, who claimed that the grapplers’ demonstrations against sexual harassment claims made against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh “amounted to indiscipline.”
Pratik told that Singh will address the media on January 22 after the Annual General Meet of WFI. He further added that the federation has given an official statement, to the Sports Ministry, as was demanded.
