Yesterday saw the release of two Kollywood Pongal films: Ayalan, starring Siva Karthikeyan, and Captain Miller, featuring Dhanush. Captain Miller started off stronger at the box office than the other one.
In his next biography, actor Dhanush will play music maestro Ilaiyaraaja. Filming is expected to start early next year, according to Manobala Vijayabalan, a film trade analyst. In 2025, the untitled movie will be released.
Arun Matheshwaran, who is best known for the films Rocky and Saani Kayidham, is the director of the historical action thriller Captain Miller. Arun, a former assistant to Thiagaran Kumararaja, is well-known for his frames and bloody action scenes. After seeing Arun’s last project, which was successful, Dhanush quickly agreed to work on Captain Miller, the most expensive project he has ever undertaken.
In a recent interview, Abhay Deol, who was also in Raanjhanaa, remarked that although the movie “was true to the subject,” it lost its essence in the “process of glamorising it.”
Two among the most prominent actors in the Tamil cinema business right now are Vetrimaaran and Dhanush. Now, the renowned director and actor are apparently preparing to collaborate for the fifth time on a film with a Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) setting.
Taking to Twitter, the makers penned down, “#Vaathi #SIR grosses 51 crores in just 3 days Best ever opening for our Star @dhanushkraja #Vaathi #SIR tops Monday’s test results as expected. ‘D’ Rampage continues.”
The film stars Dhanush in the pivotal role of a maths teacher. Helmed by Venky Atluri, the film has been simultaneously filmed in Telugu and Tamil. In Telegu it has been titled as SIR. Both the versions of the movie will hit the theaters worldwide on February 17.
Posting the film posters, GVP wrote, “With renewed spirit, We will be bringing #Vaathi #SIRMovie to the theatres on 17 Feb 2023 (sic).”
