The Sandman is back incredibly. After failing to receive the Academy Award nomination that most felt his acting in Uncut Gems deserved, Adam Sandler is once again the subject of critical acclaim on account of his acting in the Netflix movie, Hustle.
Since Sandler has reminded the world that he’s much more than simply a comedic actor, it appears to be the perfect time to search over his four-decade-long career to find the best and most loved movies the actor has featured in.
‘Hotel Transylvania’ – 7.0
Adam Sandler might have left the franchise before Hotel Transylvania: Transformania arrived on Amazon Prime, yet his recognized voice helped launch of the franchise in the 1st (and best) installment. Hotel Transylvania was a completely original animated movie, following Dracula (Sandler) as he opens a high-end resort for monsters yet becomes concerned when a human boy falls for his teenage daughter.
‘Punch-Drunk Love’ – 7.3
Punch-Drunk Love was somewhat of a defining moment in Sandler’s career. After over a decade of being the leading man in a series of beloved comedies, Sandler chose to take on a much more dramatic role in the Paul Thomas Anderson helmed movie. However, trademark wit over into his acting, Punch-Drunk Love introduced audiences to a good side of Sandler.
‘Reign Over Me’ – 7.4
The tagline for Reign Over Me reads ‘let the unexpected in,’ and the movie itself is certainly an unexpected enjoyment. It recounts the tale of a man, following losing his family in the 9/11 tragedy, reunites with his old school roommate. It explores whether this rekindled friendship is sufficient to help him through his grief.
‘Hustle’ – 7.4
The movie, which sees Sandler act inverse a few of the best b-ball players on the planet, follows Sandler’s talent scout as he finds an unbelievably talented street basketball player in Spain and attempts to get him the chance he deserves.
‘Uncut Gems’ – 7.4
Sandler portrayed Howard Ratner, a fast-talking New York City jeweler whose gambling addiction has left his family and career in shambles. Howard believes he’s gotten himself out in the form of an uncut opal from Ethiopia, however, things aren’t that simple. This was one of the first time in his career that Sandler has portrayed a somewhat despicable character.
