Tamil Nadu’s social justice minister Saroja made 300 pregnant women wait for more than two hours for a photo-opportunity. The women were invited to a state-sponsored baby-shower event that was organised by the government for the ladies belonging to the economically weaker section of the society.
However, the women were allegedly made to wait for more than two hours as a result of which a lady among them even collapsed before the arrival of VVIP minister.
The incident has been criticised and condemned by people such as BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, Samajwadi Party leader Ghanshyam Tewari, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
DMK’s CR Saraswathy told ANI:
“This EPS-OPS government has made pregnant women wait from the morning. This act cannot be digested. This is not the government for people which Amma had brought.”
Pugalenthi (TTV Dinakaran faction) said: “This is all because of the health minister. We want to throw the Health Minister out from the ministry. The government has totally failed to function.”
