With Leo, Thalapathy Vijay’s most recent action drama, he has completely destroyed the box office. The film, which was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, shattered every record that had been set on the first day of release in Tamil cinema. With its 148.5 crore opening day, Leo became the highest-grossing Kollywood film ever. Leo became the fourth Indian film to start with the highest gross, behind RRR, Baahubali 2, and KGF 2.
It’s possible that this record may stand for a while. In 2023, the movie had the greatest opening in Indian cinema history. Thalapathy Vijay seems set to make his first 500 crore grosser alongside Leo. Even though Tamil Nadu doesn’t have any early morning shows, Leo posted a staggering amount that matched Beast (35 crores).
