There’s nothing very like a cutesy romantic comedy to make our hearts burst, and we got it in abundance with the new Prime Video series, The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Based on the book trilogy by Jenny Han, The Summer I Turned Pretty follows Belly as she attempts to navigate a love triangle with her two oldest friends (who likewise happen to be brothers… complicated.)
The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 potential release date: Will there be a season 2?
Yes! There is a 2nd season on the way. As far as we know, shooting is yet to start on the series, however it’s likely because of the show being based around summer; another June/July release will be on the cards for season two.
The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 cast: Who’s in it?
Lola Tung leads the show’s cast as Belly, with Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno portraying the brothers battling for her love, Conrad and Jeremiah.
Jackie Chung as Belly’s mom Laurel, and Sean Kaufman as her brother Steven will also also be back.
In the forthcoming season, Conrad and Jeremiah’s dad, John, will also become more involved in the central plot.
One individual however we don’t know we’ll be seeing is Rachel Blanchard, who portrays boys’ mum, Susanna. Uncovering her cancer has returned toward the finish of season one, she announced that she wouldn’t be seeking after alternative treatments after exhausting herself with years of chemotherapy.
The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 plot: What will happen?
The second season of The Summer I Turned Pretty will follow the 2nd in Jenny Han’s book series, titled It’s Not Summer Without You.
And let’s just say Belly and Conrad’s romantic ending from season one doesn’t keep going longer.
The book synopsis reads: “It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again, and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come.
“But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started – at Cousins Beach.”
