Recently on February 24, it turned a year we lost a legendary actress Sridevi. Last year, while attending a relative’s marriage in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, she died mysteriously in a bathtub. Police later told the media that she died of accidental drowning. She was only 54 years old at the time of death.

She was associated with the acting field since age 4. She gave 50 years of her life to the films. On her first death anniversary, we want to tell some unknown facts about her. Sridevi was born in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, India on 13 August 1963 to Ayyapan and Rajeshwari. Her father was a lawyer from Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. Her mother was from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. She has a sister and two stepbrothers.

Her full name was Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan but she opted Sridevi as her screen name as suggested by her mother and some claim that it was given to her by a South superstar. As she started acting at age 4 in South Indian films, she debuted in Bollywood films at age 12 in 1978.

Sridevi always repented that she had never been to school and college. That’s why she wanted her daughter to complete their studies first before stepping into the films. Sridevi was from South India and she was unable to speak Hindi during the initial years of her Bollywood career. It was voice artists Rekha and Naaz who used to give their voice to Sridevi’s characters in the films. Due to this, she was also called as ‘Goongi Gudiya’ means a dumb doll.

Sridevi was the first lady superstar of Bollywood. She is one of the legendary actresses. She was married to producer Boney Kapoor and was accused of breaking his first marriage. Sridevi has two daughters from him Jahnvi and Khushi Kapoor.
